How to Connect via SFTP with 2FA (Dedicated Servers Only)

Instructions for WinSCP Application

To connect with WinSCP to dedicated servers that require 2FA, the following settings will help avoid being asked for the PIN multiple times:

  1. Select: “Tools > Preferences”
  2. There, in the “Transfer > Background” section, select:
    • “Maximal numbers of transfers at the same time”: 1
    • Uncheck “Use multiple connections for single transfer”

  3. Click OK.

 

In the new connection, select the “SFTP” protocol and enter the relevant details (hostname, username, password) and connect.

 

 

Instructions for FileZilla Application

To connect to dedicated servers that require 2FA with FileZilla, you need the following settings:

General:

  • Protocol: SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol
  • Logon Type: Interactive

Transfer Settings:

  • Maximum number of simultaneous connections: 1

 

 

Instructions for Transmit Application

To connect with the Transmit application (MacOS) to dedicated servers that use 2-factor authentication for connecting to the hosting environment, the following settings will help avoid being asked for the PIN multiple times:

  1. In Preferences (Transmit -> Settings), go to Advanced and then to Advanced Server Settings.
  2. In the window that opens, select Default from the left and enable the checkbox ‘Network Limit server ‘1’ connections’.
    We should enter the number 1 there. Then click ‘OK’.
  3. If you don’t want this option to be Global, then click the + in the Advanced Server Settings window and enter the hostname and enable the checkbox “Network Limit server ‘1’ connections” there so it’s only active for this profile.
  4. In the new connection, select the “SFTP” protocol and enter the relevant details (hostname, port, username, password, path) and click Connect to complete the connection.
