How to Connect My Email to the Gmail App

The Gmail app on iOS and Android is not limited to managing Google accounts. To simplify your daily routine, you can consolidate all your professional or personal correspondence in a single environment by adding any email account to the Gmail app. This way you can manage your domain email directly through the Gmail app.

Follow the steps below to complete the setup of the Gmail app on Android and iOS.

Adding a new email account

Start by signing in to the Gmail app, by opening the application on your mobile device. On the home screen, locate and tap your profile icon (or the circular image with your initial) located in the top right corner of the screen.

In the menu that appears, you will see a list of your already connected accounts. To begin the configuration process for your new email, select the “Add another account” option.

Selecting account type

On the “Set up email” screen, you will be asked to select the type of service. Choose the “Other (IMAP)” option.

Note: Since January 2026, the Gmail app no longer supports connecting via the POP3 protocol for third-party provider accounts. Therefore, the use of IMAP is mandatory for syncing your emails.

Entering your email address

In the next step, type your full email address (e.g. demo@trustservers.gr) in the corresponding field and tap the “Next” button.

Incoming server settings

For maximum security, it is essential to use encryption for both incoming and outgoing communication.

In the Incoming Server Settings, make sure you are using an encrypted connection. Set the Security type to SSL/TLS and set the Port to 993.

Outgoing server settings

Similarly, for sending your emails (Outgoing Server Settings), a secure communication protocol is required. Set the Security type to STARTTLS and set the Port to 587.

Setting the account name

In the final step, you can set the Account Name (e.g. “Business Email”) as well as the display name you want recipients of your messages to see.

Congratulations! The setup has been completed successfully. You can now manage your email account directly within the familiar environment of the Gmail app.

Additionally, you can view the general recommended email settings that apply to all email clients (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.), whether on mobile phones or desktop computers, in our article Email Settings.
