How to change the theme in the DirectAdmin panel

DirectAdmin is one of the most popular hosting panels, with an active presence and continuous development spanning more than 20 years. Since we spend a fair amount of time inside its management environment, we want it to be pleasant and functional. For that purpose, DirectAdmin offers different themes, so we can choose the one that best suits our preferences.

The three main customizations regarding the appearance of the admin panel concern:

• the layout of the environment
• the color (dark or light)
• the language

Let’s now see how we can choose each one of these to shape our own panel environment.

Detailed steps to change the DirectAdmin theme

1. First, we connect to DirectAdmin through the browser by typing our domain domainname.tld:2222 and log in with our credentials.
   
2. Once we log in, we find ourselves on the DirectAdmin home page. From the left-hand list we select the gear icon, which corresponds to the theme options (skin options). The default layout is usually Refreshed or Standard.
   
3. Here we see the Refreshed layout. By clicking on “Layout” we can choose one of the available layout options (Standard, Sidebar, Icons Grid, Refreshed), which we also present below in the “Available layouts” section.
   Next, we select “Color” (light, dark, or system color) and finally we select “Language”.

Finally, for your convenience, we also present here the available layouts together with the “Color” so you can see how they look. Of course, you can experiment and browse within your own panel before deciding what you prefer.
