How Can I View the Web Server’s Error_log for my Domain?

To view the web server error_log for our domain, we follow these steps:

  1. Login to DirectAdmin.
  2. If we have multiple domains: then we select the domain we are interested in.
  3. Click on the link “Site Summary / Statistics / Logs” (under “System Info & Files”).
  4. On this screen, in the “Logs” column there is a link for “Error log” where we can view our website’s error_log.
In the error_log we see errors that the website has generated during visits to our pages. There is also the “Usage Log” link where we can view a record of all visits (access log).
  5. After the log page opens, to see new lines that may have been recorded since the last log load, simply click “Reload log”. We can also change how many lines are shown there (initially the last 100). We can also select “Full log” where the entire log is displayed.
  6. If we need older logs, then instead of step (4), on the screen from step (3) we select the “Backed up Web Logs” link which automatically takes us to the File Manager in the folder with older logs and we can download whichever one we want to view.
To view the Usage Log and Error Log files related to your account’s subdomains:
  1. Login to DirectAdmin.
  2. If we have multiple domains: then we select the domain we are interested in.
  3. In the Account Manager column, select Subdomain Management.
  4. For the desired subdomain, click the three dots on the right to display available options.
  5. Select the log file we want.
