How can I take a backup from the Control Panel?
Creating a backup
To create a backup through DirectAdmin, we log in to the Panel and for our domain we select: “Create/Restore Backups”
There we select what we want our new backup to include:
Website Data: Includes the backup of our website files
E-Mail: Includes the backup of our emails
Ftp: Includes the backup of FTP accounts
Databases: Includes the backup of our databases
For a website backup, it is sufficient to select “Website Data” and “Databases” (essentially for a website backup we are not interested in emails).
Then we click the “Create Backup” button and in a few minutes the backup will be completed automatically.
Once completed, a related notification will automatically appear in the Panel notifications.
Also, our new backup will appear with the current date in “Create/Restore Backups” by clicking the “Restore Backup” button
For a backup to complete successfully, we need to have the necessary free disk space to store it.
Restoring a backup
Restores are done from the same screen:
In brief, we select the backup we want to restore from the list.
Then we select which components of the backup we want to restore.
Finally we click “Restore” for the restore to proceed and wait for it to complete.
During the restore, files that already exist in your folders and are not in the backup are not deleted.
The restore process, in other words, adds (or overwrites) the files that are already in the backup, but does not touch the other files that already exist in your folders.
We remind you that in addition to the restore described here, you also have access to restores from the backups that are automatically taken daily in the JetBackup menu.
